How We Began
Apollo Medical Centre's history is a testament to our unwavering commitment to healthcare excellence in Tanzania. Our journey began in the year 2000 when we opened our doors in the vibrant Kariakoo area of Dar es Salaam as a modest clinic. Initially, we operated with just two rooms and no patient bed arrangements, driven by a vision to bring quality healthcare closer to the community.
Our Transformation
In 2003, we achieved a significant milestone by officially registering as a Healthy Centre with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW). This marked the official recognition of our dedication to providing outstanding healthcare services.
Our commitment to expansion and improved patient care led us to relocate in 2004 to Mshihiri Street in the City Center, Ilala District, where we are presently located. This move allowed us to enhance our services and better serve the healthcare needs of our growing community.

A Regional Referral Level Hospital
Today, Apollo Medical Centre stands proudly as a Regional Referral Level hospital. Our 3-floor facility operates around the clock, providing comprehensive Out-Patient and In-Patient services to meet the diverse healthcare needs of our community.
Our commitment to excellence extends to our Specialist Clinics and a broad spectrum of services, including Dentistry, Radiology, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Physiotherapy. We are particularly proud to be recognized as a Center of Excellence in Endourology, pioneering innovative treatments like ExtraCorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) for kidney conditions.

OUt PAtient Care
The facility runs a 24-Hour Out-Patient Department with a team of 10 full and part-time General Practitioners with over 15 years’ experience in total. The team sees about 40-70 patients a day at the clinics presenting with a wide range of different conditions ranging from chronic conditions like Diabetes Mellitus and hypertension to acute conditions such as Malaria and urinary track infections

Inpatient Care Unit
Apollo Medical Centre boasts a total of 16 beds in the In-Patient Wards comprising of Medical ward, Pediatric ward, Surgical Ward, Maternity ward & Labor wards. The wards are spread over 2 floors (2nd and 3rd) with each floor having a general room with 3-4 beds, a private room with1 bed and an executive room with a bed and attached bathroom.

SPECIALIST CLINICS
The facility hosts a full-time General Surgeon with over 30 years’ experience in the field along with a full-time Obstetrician and Gynecologist and Urologist. We also have multiple part-time specialists visiting in different specialties including a Cardiologist, Orthopedic surgeon, Dermatologist, Radiologist, Pediatrician & an ENT Specialist.
Women health
We offer a comprehensive women's health program, including reproductive and gynecological care, cancer screenings, mental health support, and community education, along with essential services such as maternity care through our maternity clinics . Our goal is to empower women to take charge of their well-being and make informed health decisions, ultimately promoting a healthier and more fulfilling life.

CHILD HEALTH CLINICS (RCH)
An extended maternal child health of family welfare or safe motherhood or child survival and safe motherhood programme. It deals with children below 5 years. It involves two aspects, Vaccinations and Specialists including, Pediatricians for the child and gynecologist for the mother.

Surgery
The facility also hosts a state-of-the-art surgical theatre catering to a wide variety of cases from General Surgery to laparoscopic surgeries and Urology to Orthopedic and Obstetrics Gynecology cases. The theatre also is specialized in conducting ESWL as a pioneer in Tanzania for kidney stones.
Mental Health
we offer a comprehensive mental health program that includes counseling services, therapy, psychiatric support. Our aim is to encourage individuals towards the well being of their mental health, providing them with the support and resources needed to make informed decisions and ultimately improve their mental health and quality of life.

Dental
The facility boasts a State-of-the-Art dental unit with a full-time dental surgeon having almost 10 years of experience. The department offers a variety of services including tooth extractions, fillings, root canal treatment, and sees about 20 patients a day

Radiology
We run a 12-hour radiology unit offering a wide range of modalities in X-ray and Ultrasounds. We have male and female radiographers to ensure every patient is comfortable with our service and currently handle about 400 radiological investigations a month. We also have a part-time Radiologist at the facility.

physiotherapy
The facility also hosts a well-equipped and modern physiotherapy unit with male and female physiotherapists which handles almost 400 patients per month. The unit provides a wide variety of physiotherapy services ranging from Pain management due to chronic conditions like Osteoarthritis and Spondylosis to Chest & Neurological Physiotherapy.

cTC CLINICS
The facility also houses a full-time CTC clinic with experienced CTC coordinators able to handle the most complicated cases. All departments are supported by a team of 22 full-time and part-time nurses with

PHARMACY
We operate a well-stocked 24-hour pharmacy service with a variety of routine and emergency medication for a variety of health conditions and age groups. The unit is run by a group of 8 qualified pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians who ensure patients are well informed about their medications.

Apollo Medical Centre has partnered with one of the leading laboratory services in Tanzania, Metropolis Labs which currently runs our lab 24 hours a day. The lab is capable of performing almost a wide range of around 4000 different investigations with around 40 years of experience in the field.
